Bitstrips (now owned by Snap Inc.) lets users express themselves by creating personal cartoon avatars to share with their friends through Facebook and mobile chat apps. As part of an effort to increase their presence on mobile, we built several iOS and Android prototypes that allow users to display high-quality stickers of their avatars in chat applications like WhatsApp and iMessage.
The goal of the design was to make it as simple as possible to share a Bitstrips emoji, or Bitmoji, as it is to pick an emoji. We collaborated closely with the CEO and product team to craft the experience into one that felt native and natural. Our work laid the foundation for what would become the Bitmoji app.
